This quote perfectly sums up the atmosphere that the landscape creates. Couple this with the snowfall and the fact that they are then stranded at the Lodge with no means of transport to leave, and you have the most perfect setting for a crime novel. The Lodge, with its modern quaintness, set beside a beautiful though eerie loch, in an area that was once part of a whiskey smuggling venture, it sings the tune of a modern Agatha Christie mystery. Set in the Highlands of Scotland, in as rural a place as is possible to be, the Lodge and it’s surrounding emptiness is the Perfect Place for a crime novel.
